Oligonucleotides are widely used in methods such as DNA-sequencing, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), genetic and forensic analysis and many more. Due to its high sensitivity in most of these applications the method of detection is based on fluorescence. Consequently oligonucleotides need to be labeled with a fluorophore for visualization.
